What is a consumer proposal?

A consumer proposal is a legally binding agreement between a debtor and his creditors that needs to be filed by a licensed Trustee who is called an “Administrator”. In most cases, you will pay back much less than the full amount, interest free, and over a maximum period of 60 months.

Who is eligible to file for bankruptcy?

In order to file for bankruptcy, you

1. owe at least $1,000;

2. are 18 years of age or above;

3. are unable to meet your obligations as they become due.
